Here we are, it's that time of the year again. We are beginning to notice the streets that we live in, or maybe even our favorite stores, transform overnight in their appearance with decoration, indicating that the Christmas season is upon us.
There's a gradual sense in which we settle into the Christmas spirit every year. Around November end or early December, the malls start playing Christmas carols and songs; all businesses start advertising their X'mas offers and the social media blows up with people trying to make their "valuable" opinions about Christmas known to the world. It's also the only time of the year that you hear the name Emmanuel thrown around a lot.
Whom shall I fear? Of whom shall I be afraid? That ought to be the resounding response of Christians when we face the countless fears of this world. We live in a time when courage is no small feat, and David here gives us a simple solution - trust in God.
It's happening again, isn't it? It's December already and forget being drowned in "Christmas spirit", I think I haven't heard a single Christmas carol anywhere yet. Not one refrain of "O Holy Night", not a single "Fa La La", not even the "Jingle Bells" tune, which is basically the theme song for the season.
